Our Experience

Creative Heritage assists those with responsibilities for heritage assets, especially buildings at risk. It seeks to help clients turn liabilities into assets through heritage-led regeneration, creative re-use and constructive partnerships. Established in 2011, the multi-disciplinary practice is led by Kate Dickson, formerly Director of Heritage Works Building Preservation Trust. Creative Heritage offers a range of services to support voluntary sector organisations in developing historic building projects, from funding advice and feasibility studies, through governance and capacity building, to delivery strategies and project management.

Creative Heritage operates as a network of associates who are experienced in all aspects of heritage project delivery. Some consultants are freelance individuals or small companies that also operate independently; others are permanent, part time staff. Consultants include project managers, community engagement advisers, architects and regeneration specialists.

Director Kate Dickson has considerable experience of historic building regeneration, from feasibility studies for the smallest scheduled monument site to the project management of significant industrial heritage restoration projects. With conservation expertise and an in-depth knowledge of funding and delivery mechanisms, she brings problem solving skills to find creative solutions for seemingly intransigent buildings at risk.

Clients include local authorities and public agencies, private owners and voluntary organisations, such as building preservation trusts, community development trusts and church congregations.
Based in Buxton, Derbyshire, Creative Heritage operates throughout the UK.

Its consultants have recently undertaken studies and commissions in Manchester, Birmingham, the Peak District National Park, North Yorkshire and Merseyside.
